Kate Middleton ranked world's best-dressed pregnant star - with supermodel Lara Stone and Penelope Cruz not far behind

The Duchess of Cambridge continues to hold the top spot on Vanity Fair's annual International Best-Dressed List, so it comes as no surprise she has been voted the world's best-dressed pregnant star.

Ranking the world's most stylish expectant mothers, the magazine placed Alec Baldwin's wife, Hilaria, second, and Britain's rock royalty daughter Peaches Geldof third.

Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz and supermodel Lara Stone, with their closets full of figure-hugging dresses and numerous expertly-layered red carpet outfits, were not far behind.

While many pregnant women avoid belly-hugging clothing, bright colors, and luxurious fabrics - instead opting for elastic waists, and materials synonymous with comfort, like Lycra, jersey, and cotton - these stars have no lack of style inspiration.

Kate Middleton, for example, has set the maternity-fashion bar high.

 Her classic pieces have inspired and influenced the wardrobes of countless mothers-to-be, concealing her relatively small bump with three-quarter-length coats and knee-grazing skirts that draw attention to her toned legs.

Meanwhile Mrs Baldwin, 28, has become famous for her simple, low-maintenance pregnancy style.

The yoga teacher favors body-hugging, sleeveless dresses that highlight her strong limbs. 

Ms Geldof, 24, has taken a cue from old-world Hollywood glamor, showing off her baby bump in sophisticated gowns - 'considerably more maternal than her (occasionally barely clothed) wild-child days of yore,' wrote Vanity Fair.

Ms Cruz, who is expecting her second child, has style with signature styles she she favored pre-pregnancy - like a belted waist.

Favoring tight, floor-skimming black-tie outfits in eye-popping colors in Ms Stone, who plays down her seductive style with off-duty hair and lips. 

Ranked ninth is Margherita Missoni, pregnant with her first child, while model Eva Herzigová follows for tenth place thanks to her downtown and 'decidedly un-dowdy' maternity wear. 

Dancer, 32, who lost part of her leg in Boston bombing vows to dance again... and run in next year's marathon

A dance instructor who lost part of her leg in the deadly bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon has vowed to dance again - and run in next year's event.

Doctors were unable to save Adrianne Haslet-Davis' left foot after she was hit by the second bomb as she watched the race last week, and they amputated her leg five inches below the knee.

Despite the life-changing surgery, the 32-year-old said she is not giving up on her passion.

'When I'm dancing, I don't feel the need to be doing anything else. My joy is complete,' she told the Boston Herald.

'I can't let some[one] come along and steal my whole life. So, I'll dance again. And next year, though I've never been a runner, yes, I plan to run the marathon.'

Photographs provided by the Arthur Murray Studio in Park Plaza show the vibrant instructor doing what she does best – teaching others to move and looking graceful dancing herself.

Losing her foot was at the forefront of Haslet-Davis' mind when she and her husband, Air Force Capt. Adam Davis, felt the explosion - and she was driven by the refusal to lose it.

'I remember everything,' she told CNN. 'I remember the first bomb going off and holding onto Adam - my husband - and thinking, "I know there's never just one".

'I just knew something was about to happen and I started screaming. The second bomb went off.... and I remember falling backwards because of the impact.'

She woke up certain that she was fine - until her husband gestured to her foot.

'I thought it was over,' she said. 'I lost around 80 per cent of the bone and muscle of my foot. I was bleeding profusely. I was very scared.'

The thought of losing her foot struck her immediately, and she said she felt determined to get help so that she would not become an amputee.

'I was determined to save my foot,' she said. 'I knew I could fight it or I could lay there on the sidewalk and bleed out, and that sounded awful and painful and horrible.'

Her husband, who just returned from Afghanistan, pulled off his belt and used it as a tourniquet for his wife's wound. He was riddled with shrapnel but managed to drag Adrianne into a restaurant.

Despite the chaos around them, she took a moment to tell her husband what he meant to her.

'If this was going to be the last time we saw each other, I wanted him to know how much I loved him,' she told the Herald. 'Then I told him we'd make it through this, that I wasn't ready to leave him yet.'

She said that when she saw firefighters, she felt that she was going to be safe. She was taken to Boston Medical Center, where she underwent surgery.

She awoke in hospital a day after the attacks and told her mother, Chauni, that her left foot felt numb.

'Adrianne,' her mother said gently. 'Dear, your left foot… it's gone.'

Despite knowing her life is forever changed, she is determined to return to her passion.

'Dancing is my life,' she said. 'Yeah, having my foot blown off, that really sucks. But I can't wallow in woe is me.'

In between vamping for the camera, the Wedding Crashers star spoke about filming The Great Gatsby with director Baz Luhrmann in Australia.

The actress, who plays the role of Myrtle Wilson, told the magazine of the experience, 'It was thrilling and terrifying. Given the caliber of the director and cast on Gatsby, I definitely felt out of my comfort zone. I did feel like I was going to be called out and sent home at some point—you always feel very insecure, at least I do.'

She continued, 'The set was like a playground of rich costumes (his wife Catherine Martin does them) and color and music and laughter.

'Everybody cares on a Baz Luhrmann film set because everyone is so effing grateful to be there.'

When asked if she'd ever consider a professional collaboration with the Borat comedian, she responded, 'Personally, I think we collaborate on enough behind closed doors. 

'We’re working on some really important collaborations, and I think that’s more important.'

However, she emphasized her respect of her husband's work, telling the magazine, 'Obviously, I'm a big fan of his. My favorite movie will always be Bruno, and my favorite line will always be when he looks up at the sky and goes, ''So many stars in the sky. Makes you think of all the hot guys in the world.'' So freaking random and funny.'

The couple, who married in 2010, have two daughters, Olive, five, and Elula, two.

Later Isla discussed her hiatus from acting to focus on raising the girls, explaining, 'I took three years off. It's not like you're taking a break and looking on IMDbPro to see your StarMeter falling. You're doing the most important, incredible thing.

'When you come back in, the perspective has changed. I truly believe you can't have it all and you shouldn't want to,' she added.

But the pop sensation opted for something a little more cartoon friendly for a promotional appearance in Cancun, Mexico.

The 28-year-old donned a blue themed outfit for the Summer of Sony annual event to pump her Smurfs 2 movie, on Monday.

The animated sequel is set for release in July and also co-stars Sofia Vergara and Alan Cumming.
