Jonas Brothers Throw 'Pom Poms' Up For Summer Tour
Brothers tease new album, talk Miley Cyrus and Frank Ocean while officially debuting new single.
This will be the summer of Jonas. The Jonas Brothers not only dropped their new single, "Pom Poms," officially on Tuesday (March 2), but they also revealed their plans for a tour — their first in three years.
The Jonas Brothers Live Tour kicks off on July 10 in Chicago with North American stops in their home state of New Jersey, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Phoenix. In July, they will also appear at the Mixtape Festival. More information about the trek can be found on their website.
For now, though fans will have to settle on watching their "Pom Poms" video on repeat. Leaked early, it features a gospel choir, booty-popping dancers and a marching band. It also puts Nick's smooth dance moves on display during a girls vs. boys dance break. "I had to do a bit of dancing in 'How To Succeed...' last year on Broadway so I learned a little bit. In this one it was about having a good time. I'm not saying I'm a dancer by any means," he told Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday.
Jonas Brothers Go After 'Completely Different Approach To Songwriting'
It's been three years since the guys released new music and they felt "Pom Poms" had just the right upbeat vibe to launch this latest chapter. When asked what exactly the guys are referencing on the bouncy track, Nick added, "It's kind of self-explanatory. It's got a lot of different meanings. I've got my own personal meaning for it."
The guys also shared that Frank Ocean was a huge influence on this next album, even enlisting someone from his Channel Orange team to cook up tracks with them on the 2013 album release. Nick called Ocean's single "Thinkin' Bout You" a "blanket inspiration" for the album, out later this year. The group performed the tune for Seacrest and his listeners to give fans a taste of their new direction.
In addition to chatting up their music, Nick addressed a rumor that hechilled out with his ex, Miley Cyrus recently. He said, "No, I didn't meet up with her. We're really friendly. We got a good relationship. And I'm happy for her and [fiancé] Liam [Hemsworth]. I think it's one of those things that it's like there a lot of people that look like me I guess in that particular town. Maybe they're running around meeting with Miley."
While music is the main focus of the JoBros 2013, Nick will take some time to shoot a film, "Careful What You Wish For," and he's prepping by hitting the gym. He said, "It's a very intense kind of sexy thriller, so it requires me not having my shirt off. I've been on this crazy intense diet, trying to get all toned. It's been good."
